Washington County Recognized as Greater Zion Film Commission

Congratulations to Joyce Kelly of the Greater Zion Film Commission on receiving a Utah Film Ready Award. This honor is granted to individuals who help shape Utah into a production-ready powerhouse.

The award was presented at the Passport to Prosperity Event, hosted by the Utah Office of Tourism and the Utah Film Commission, an annual celebration of the visitor economy and the industries that keep Utah thriving.

Kelly has been instrumental in that effort across Washington County. She helps productions plug into the local community, support businesses, and create lasting economic impact. Film in Utah is more than scenic backdrops; it’s about real dollars flowing into hotels, restaurants, and local crews—strengthening communities long after the final scene wraps (Utah Film Commission).

Some people wait for the spotlight. Others build the stage, wire the lights, and make sure the whole production runs on cue. Joyce Kelly is firmly in that second category. Utah’s film industry is stronger for it.

Oscar-winner Kevin Costner is developing Territory Film Studios in St. George, Utah. This facility means more opportunities to experience the excitement of filmmaking firsthand, which also means more opportunities for visitors to explore the same canyons, ghost towns, and resort backdrops they see in the movies.
